Anthropic's revenue went from $41 million in 2023 to $4.59 billion in 2025, then reached $16.29 billion in the first half of 2026 alone. Claude's share of worldwide generative AI web visits rose from about 2% to nearly 9% in under a year. Below are 34 numbered statistics on Claude usage, growth, market share, business adoption and how Claude cites and recommends brands. Each one is tied to an Anthropic primary source, an SEC filing or an original third-party study. All sources were read on 31 October 2026.

Most of that revenue is API and platform consumption, which means Claude answers increasingly sit inside other companies' products, not only in the Claude app.

Personal use is rising. Personal conversations rose from 35% to 42% of Claude.ai traffic between November 2025 and February 2026, driven by questions about sports, product comparisons and home maintenance. Which sources does Claude cite?
Claude leans on brand websites and listings but cites fewer sources a brand can influence than other models. In Yext's study of 155.5 million citations, 69% of Anthropic citations went to influenceable sources, against 85% for OpenAI. OtterlyAI and Muck Rack both found Claude cited Reddit zero times.
- Anthropic's citations split 42.6% websites, 26.4% listings and 19.5% reviews and social. 69% of its citations go to sources a brand can influence, against 85% for OpenAI, 81% for Gemini and 80% for Perplexity. Source: Yext Research, July 2026.

- Claude includes citations in 55% of responses and averages 13 citations when it does. ChatGPT cites in 96% of responses (about 5 each) and Gemini in 82% (about 8). Claude cited Reddit and YouTube zero times. Source: Muck Rack, What Is AI Reading?, May 2026.

|---|---|---|
| Yext, 155.5M citations | 69% influenceable sources | OpenAI 85%, Gemini 81% |
| OtterlyAI, 379,321 citations | 64.0% brand domains | 13% domain overlap with ChatGPT |

| Analyze AI, 83,670 citations | 22.2% first-party citations | ChatGPT 13.5% |
Analyze AI's tracking from November 2025 to January 2026 found the same pattern: 22.2% of Claude's citations went to the brand's own site, against 17.0% for Perplexity and 13.5% for ChatGPT, and only 0.1% went to Wikipedia (Analyze AI, 19 January 2026). For how other engines pick sources, see our LLM citation statistics.
How many brands does Claude name in one answer?
Claude named 4.22 brands and cited 5.27 sources per answer across 100 software buying questions in GetIntel's August 2026 test. ChatGPT named more brands (5.28) but cited fewer sources (3.66). Analyze AI measured 1.05 Claude citations per brand mention, about one link for every brand named.
- GetIntel ran 100 buying questions across 10 software categories and 491 answers. Claude named 4.22 brands and cited 5.27 sources per answer; Perplexity cited 7.61 and Google AI Overviews 10.05 (GetIntel, 2 August 2026, updated 3 October). GetIntel sells AI visibility software.
- Analyze AI found Claude gives 1.05 citations per brand mention and favours blog content, at 43.8% of its citations (Analyze AI, 19 January 2026).
About four brands make each Claude shortlist. If you are not one of them, the answer still names someone, usually a competitor with a clearer page.
What do these numbers mean for brand visibility?
Claude is small in consumer reach but large where buying decisions are made. It holds nearly 9% of AI traffic, sells mostly to businesses and returns recommendations in a fifth of personal chats. Its sources differ from ChatGPT's, so a brand visible in ChatGPT can still be missing from Claude.
Three moves follow from the data:
- Check Claude separately. With only 13% domain overlap with ChatGPT, results do not carry over. Our guide to checking if ChatGPT mentions your brand shows the method; run the same prompts on Claude.
- Fix your own site first. Claude sends 64.0% of SaaS citations to brand domains and 22.2% of all citations to first-party pages, so clear product, pricing and comparison pages are the fastest lever.
- Do not rely on Reddit or Wikipedia for Claude. Both barely register in Claude's citations, unlike ChatGPT.

Where does Mentionova fit, and where does it not?
Mentionova runs your buyers' real questions through Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI and Reddit on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly schedule. Each run logs whether Claude named you, whether it cited your domain, which rivals it named instead and which sources it trusted, and keeps the history for trend lines.
What it does well:
- Answers "why isn't my brand in Claude's answers?" You see the competitors Claude named and the URLs it cited instead of you.
- Compares engines side by side, so you can tell a Claude-only gap from a gap everywhere.
- Exports every cited source, which shows the pages and listings to fix first.
Limits worth knowing: it reports what Claude says for the prompts you track, not every conversation in the Claude app. Starter is $99 a month billed annually ($125 monthly) and covers three engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google. Claude is on the six-engine plans, such as Scale at $320 a month billed annually ($400 monthly). See pricing, or compare options in our AI brand monitoring tools guide.

What do people ask about Claude?
How many people use Claude?
6% of US adults ever use Claude, according to Pew's February 2026 survey, against 44% for ChatGPT. Worldwide, Claude held nearly 9% of generative AI web visits in May 2026, and its app monthly active users grew about 1,318% between June 2025 and May 2026 (Similarweb).
Is Claude growing faster than ChatGPT?
Yes, by share. Claude's slice of gen AI web visits roughly quadrupled between June 2025 and May 2026, while ChatGPT's fell from about 76% to about 53% (Similarweb). ChatGPT is still far larger, with more than 1.2 billion weekly users.
How much revenue does Anthropic make?
Anthropic reported $4.59 billion in revenue for 2025 and $16.29 billion for the first half of 2026 in its S-1. Run-rate revenue crossed $47 billion in May 2026, according to its Series H announcement.
Does Claude cite its sources?
Sometimes. Muck Rack found Claude includes citations in 55% of responses, averaging 13 when it does. Claude.ai offers web search, and its citations lean toward brand websites: 64.0% of SaaS and tech citations in OtterlyAI's study.
Why does Claude recommend my competitors and not me?
Claude names about four brands per software answer (GetIntel) and pulls most citations from brand websites and listings. If a competitor's pages state what it does, for whom and at what price more clearly, Claude has more to quote. Track the prompts to see which pages it cites instead.
Does Claude use Reddit?
Rarely. OtterlyAI counted zero Reddit citations in 379,321 Claude citations, and Muck Rack also found zero. That is the opposite of ChatGPT and Google, so Reddit work helps less on Claude than on other engines.
How do I get my brand mentioned in Claude?
Publish clear pages on your own domain, keep listings and review profiles complete, and earn coverage in news and industry media, which made up 14.9% of Claude's citations in OtterlyAI's data. Then track the same prompts over time; our Perplexity statistics show how a second engine compares.
