HubSpot AEO and Mentionova both track whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity name your brand when buyers ask for a recommendation. They split on four things: price, how often prompts run, how many engines one plan covers, and what happens once a gap is found. Every HubSpot price, limit and feature below was read on hubspot.com, knowledge.hubspot.com and HubSpot's product catalog on 30 October 2026. Mentionova figures come from our own pricing, docs and product pages, read the same day. We make Mentionova, so this page says plainly where HubSpot AEO is the better buy.
What are the key takeaways?
- HubSpot AEO costs $50 a month, or $45 a month billed annually. It tracks 25 prompts daily on ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, for 2,500 answers a month. No other HubSpot subscription is required.
- Mentionova Starter is $125 a month ($99 billed annually) for 25 prompts on 3 engines. Scale is $400 ($320 annually) for 100 prompts on six engines, including Claude, Gemini and Reddit.
- HubSpot wins on price, cadence and trial length. It runs prompts daily and offers a 28-day free trial with no credit card. Mentionova runs weekly, every two weeks or monthly.
- Mentionova wins on the work after the gap, outside Marketing Hub. On standalone HubSpot AEO, generating a blog post from a recommendation is not included; it needs Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise plus HubSpot Credits.
- Mentionova pushes drafts to WordPress, Webflow, Ghost, Sanity or a webhook, drafts Reddit replies, and runs isolated client workspaces with white-label reports.
- HubSpot's extra engines are in beta. Claude, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews need the AEO Multi-Engine beta and use twice the answers per prompt.

How much does HubSpot AEO cost compared with Mentionova?
Standalone HubSpot AEO is $50 a month or $45 a month on annual billing, which is $540 a year (calculated). It is also included in Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise. Mentionova Starter is $125 monthly or $99 annually. For 25 prompts, HubSpot is less than half the price of Mentionova at either billing term.
What each subscription includes, read on 30 October 2026:
| Subscription | Prompts (daily) | Answers a month | Default engines |
|---|---|---|---|
| HubSpot AEO free trial (28 days) | 25 | 2,500 | 3 |
| HubSpot AEO standalone ($50/mo, $45 annual) | 25 | 2,500 | 3 |
| Marketing Hub Professional | 25 | 2,500 | 3 |
| Marketing Hub Enterprise | 50 | 5,000 | 3 |
| Mentionova plan (monthly / annual) | Prompts | Engines | Agentic tasks a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter $125 / $99 | 25 | 3 | 100 |

| Enterprise $999 / $799 | 250 | 6 | 2,500 |

| Agency Growth $999 / $799 (10 client workspaces) | 200 | 6 | 2,500 |
Three notes on reading these numbers:
- HubSpot's extra prompts come in $20 packs. Each pack adds 10 prompts run daily on three engines and 1,000 answers a month. The catalog lists the pack as a limit increase for Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise; the AEO product page says you can buy more prompts at any time. On Marketing Hub Professional, getting from 25 to 105 prompts takes 8 packs, or $160 a month on top of the hub (calculated).
- Each brand needs its own HubSpot AEO setup. HubSpot's answer is a separate $50 instance per brand or its Brands add-on.
- Mentionova prices come from our pricing page and plans overview. Every Mentionova plan includes 3 team seats.
For every tool in the category in one table, see AI visibility tool pricing in 2026.
Which AI engines does each tool track?
HubSpot AEO tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity by default, and Claude, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews through a beta. Mentionova tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google on Starter, and adds Claude, Gemini and Reddit on Scale. HubSpot covers Gemini at $50; Mentionova only adds Gemini at $400.
What each plan can track, as read on 30 October 2026:
- HubSpot AEO, default. ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity on every subscription.
- HubSpot AEO, premium engines. A Super Admin opts the account into the AEO Multi-Engine beta and turns on the Premium pack. That adds Claude, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews. Six-engine tracking uses twice as many answers per prompt, and prompts do not run on premium engines until the account has enough answer capacity.
- Mentionova Starter. ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google.
- Mentionova Scale and above. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google and Reddit.
Two details decide this section. First, HubSpot's six-engine option doubles answer use, so 25 prompts on six engines draws the same capacity as 50 prompts on three. Second, Reddit plays a different role in each tool. HubSpot surfaces Reddit threads inside its Social amplification recommendations and Social channel insights. Mentionova tracks Reddit as an engine and drafts the reply for a person to post.
How often does each tool run your prompts?
HubSpot AEO runs tracked prompts daily and updates the visibility score daily. Mentionova runs each workspace weekly, every two weeks or monthly, and rescores opportunities nightly from the latest run. If you need a daily line on a dashboard, HubSpot is the better fit. Mentionova does not offer daily runs in the app.
Daily runs matter because AI answers vary between runs. HubSpot's own setup guide tells users to review performance across multiple days or weeks before judging a trend. More runs give a steadier rate, and HubSpot's 2,500 answers a month on 25 prompts is a measurement advantage. For the data on how much answers move, see AI citation volatility statistics.
Weekly runs are enough when the decision is "what do we publish next" rather than "what changed today". Mentionova logs eight typed drift events between runs (a mention gained or lost, a position up or down, a changed description, a sentiment shift, a competitor entering or leaving) and sends a daily opportunities digest. Our tracker page lists daily runs only through the API, which starts on Scale. That is slower than HubSpot in the app, and it is honest to say so.
What happens after each tool finds a gap?
Both tools recommend what to publish. HubSpot AEO ranks recommendations by priority and projected citation lift, and on Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise it generates the blog post with HubSpot Credits. Mentionova scores each gap 0 to 100, attaches a brief, drafts the article and pushes it to your CMS for approval on every plan.
What HubSpot AEO does after a gap, per its knowledge base:
- Recommendations. Generated from citation patterns across your tracked prompts. Each shows content type, channel, priority, status, assignee and citation lift, the projected increase in citation rate if you act.
- Four recommendation tabs. Site audit, Owned content, Social amplification (Reddit threads, LinkedIn and YouTube) and Outreach to third-party publishers.
- Site audit. Content checks against tracked prompts, plus technical checks for structured data, canonical tags, page speed signals and crawlability.
- Content generation. Blog posts or social posts from a recommendation. This needs Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, HubSpot Credits, and Edit and Publish permissions. Standalone HubSpot AEO does not include it.
- CRM-based prompt suggestions. Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise only.
What Mentionova does after a gap:
- Opportunity scoring. Every night, each opportunity is scored 0 to 100 on gap, reach, effort and heat, with a diagnosis, a specific action and a content brief.
- Brief to draft. The workflow runs brief, research, keywords, article in your brand voice, fact-check, editor, approval and schema.
- CMS delivery. The draft lands in WordPress, Webflow, Ghost, Sanity or a webhook. Nothing goes live without you.
- Reddit replies. Finds the threads your engines cite and drafts a reply in your voice. Mentionova never posts on your behalf.
- Site audit. 42 checks, including four AEO checks: llms.txt, question H2s, entity schema and FAQ schema.
The difference depends on your stack. If you already pay for Marketing Hub Professional, HubSpot closes the loop inside HubSpot. If you are on standalone AEO, or your site runs on WordPress, Webflow, Ghost or Sanity, Mentionova writes the page and puts it in your CMS.
Which tool fits which team?
Pick HubSpot AEO if you want daily tracking for $45 to $50, already run Marketing Hub, or want the longest free trial. Pick Mentionova if you want six engines including Reddit without a beta, drafts sent to a non-HubSpot CMS, client workspaces, and an MCP server your own agents can use.
Choose HubSpot AEO if:
- Budget is the constraint. $45 a month on annual billing is the lowest entry on this page.
- You report a daily visibility line. Prompts run every day.
- You already pay for Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise. AEO is included, and recommendations turn into posts inside HubSpot.
- You want recommendations informed by CRM data, which needs Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise.
- You want Google AI Mode and AI Overviews and are fine running a beta.
- You want 28 days to test before paying.
Choose Mentionova if:
- You want ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google and Reddit on one $400 plan ($320 annual), with no beta and no answer-capacity maths.
- The bottleneck is writing, not knowing, and you are not on Marketing Hub Professional. Mentionova drafts the article on every plan.
- Your site runs on WordPress, Webflow, Ghost or Sanity and you want the draft waiting there for approval.
- You run clients and want isolated workspaces with white-label reports, from $250 a month ($200 annual), rather than one $50 instance per brand.
- Your own agents need an MCP server (56 tools on every plan) and an API (Scale and above).

Where does Mentionova lose to HubSpot AEO?
Mentionova loses on price, cadence, trial length, Gemini on the entry plan and native HubSpot workflow. Its Starter costs more than twice HubSpot AEO for the same 25 prompts, runs weekly at most, has no Gemini, and offers 14 trial days against HubSpot's 28. It also does not publish to HubSpot CMS.
The losses, plainly:
- Higher price for 25 prompts. $99 annual or $125 monthly, against HubSpot's $45 or $50.
- No daily runs in the app. Weekly, every two weeks or monthly only.
- No Gemini on Starter. Mentionova Starter is ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google; Gemini starts on Scale.
- No scheduled Google AI Mode. HubSpot offers AI Mode and AI Overviews in its beta.
- Shorter trial. 14 days against HubSpot's 28. Both need no card.
- No HubSpot CMS publishing. HubSpot CMS is not one of Mentionova's named draft destinations.
- No CRM-informed recommendations. HubSpot uses your CRM data on Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise.
If you already live in Marketing Hub and want a cheap daily tracker, buy HubSpot AEO. We would rather you pick the right tool than cancel in month two.
How do you test HubSpot AEO and Mentionova side by side?
Start HubSpot's 28-day trial and Mentionova's 14-day trial in the same week with the same five unbranded buyer prompts. Compare mention rate per engine, the cited sources each tool shows, and how long each takes to give you a page you can publish. Neither trial needs a card.
A two-week plan:
- Day 1. Write five unbranded prompts a buyer would type. Use the 20-prompt method if you need a starting set.
- Day 1. Start the HubSpot AEO trial and the Mentionova trial. Add the same five prompts to both. Edit HubSpot's suggested prompts so they match yours.
- Days 1 to 13. Let both run. Do not change prompts or competitors; HubSpot notes that competitor changes only affect future runs.
- Day 13. Export mention rate and cited domains per engine from both.
- Day 14. Take the top gap. Time how long each tool takes to get you to a draft you would publish.
Expect the numbers to differ. HubSpot will hold daily runs by day 13; Mentionova will hold two weekly runs. Judge the direction and the output, not the decimal.
