Profound and Scrunch AI are the two enterprise-leaning AI visibility platforms that buyers shortlist together most often, and their pricing pages now point in different directions. Scrunch publishes a $250-a-month Core plan you can start today. Profound publishes a free 7-day trial and a custom Enterprise plan, and nothing in between. Every price and limit below was read on both vendors' live sites on 31 October 2026 and is linked in the sources. We make Mentionova, a third option, and we cover it last and plainly.

What are the key takeaways?

  • Scrunch has a published price; Profound does not. Scrunch Core is $250 a month for 125 prompts, 5,000 responses, 5 user licenses and 4 engines. Profound lists a free trial and custom Enterprise.
  • Both cap out at nine engines on Enterprise, but not the same nine. Profound names DeepSeek and Exa Search. Scrunch names Grok and Meta AI.
  • Profound gives unlimited seats on both plans. Scrunch Core includes 5 user licenses.
  • Profound leads on content agents that rewrite pages and stage them in your CMS. Scrunch leads on serving AI crawlers an optimised version of your site through Agent Pages.
  • Both trials last 7 days. Scrunch's trial runs the full Core plan with your own prompts; Profound's trial uses a preset prompt set you cannot edit.
  • Mentionova is the third route: published prices from $99 a month billed annually, six engines on Scale, drafts pushed to your CMS, with scans that refresh weekly rather than daily.

How do Profound and Scrunch AI compare at a glance?

Scrunch AI is a self-serve-then-enterprise platform with a $250 Core plan, four engines, five users and an Agent Experience Platform for AI crawlers. Profound is an enterprise platform with a free 7-day trial, custom pricing, up to nine engines, prompt volumes and content agents. The table compares both, read 31 October 2026.

Is Profound or Scrunch AI cheaper?

Scrunch AI is the only one of the two with a published price, so it is cheaper to start by default. Core costs $250 a month for 125 prompts and 5,000 responses. Profound's pricing page lists only a free 7-day trial and a custom Enterprise plan, so ongoing tracking requires a sales quote.

Tier Profound (tryprofound.com/pricing) Scrunch AI (scrunch.com/pricing)
Free 7-day trial: 50 preset prompts, daily, 3 engines, limited AI Marketer credits, 5 Prompt Volumes searches 7-day trial of the full Core plan
Entry paid None published for brands Core $250/mo: 125 prompts, 5,000 responses, 5 site audits a month, 1 brand workspace, 5 users
Enterprise Custom: tailored prompt plan, up to 9 engines, AI Marketer credits for the whole team, SSO/SAML and SOC 2, dedicated support Custom: custom prompts and responses, Agent Pages, complete site audits, API, SSO (SAML, OIDC), dedicated account team, 9 engines
Agencies A "self-serve Agency Growth plan" with 400 credits per month per client workspace; no price on the pricing page Agency Core $500/mo; Agency Enterprise custom

Scrunch's own pricing FAQ states the agency figure: Agency Core at $500 a month and Agency Enterprise on custom pricing. Profound's pricing page names the Agency Growth plan in its credits FAQ but gives no price for it.

What the money buys per prompt is easier to read on Scrunch: $250 divided by 125 prompts is $2 per tracked prompt a month on Core. Profound gives no figure to divide.

Does Profound still sell a self-serve brand plan?

No. Profound's pricing page, read on 31 October 2026, lists two options for brands: a free Trial and a custom Enterprise plan. The Trial runs 50 prompts daily for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. There is no paid self-serve brand plan between the trial and Enterprise.

Two trial limits matter when you compare it with Scrunch's trial:

  • Preset prompts. Profound's FAQ says Trial users "receive a recommended prompt set based on their industry and cannot customize their prompts". On Enterprise you can edit, disable or add prompts.
  • No data export. The Trial lists no history, no exports and no API. Enterprise lists all-time history, CSV and JSON exports and an API.

Scrunch's trial is the Core plan itself: 125 unique prompts that you add or auto-generate, on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Microsoft Copilot, according to Scrunch's free-trial FAQ.

Which AI engines does each tool track?

Both reach nine engines on Enterprise, and seven of them overlap. Profound adds DeepSeek and Exa Search; Scrunch adds Grok and Meta AI. On entry plans Scrunch covers four engines, including Perplexity and Copilot, while Profound's trial covers three: ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews.

Engine Profound Trial Profound Enterprise Scrunch Core Scrunch Enterprise
ChatGPT Yes Yes Yes Yes
Google AI Overviews Yes Yes Yes Yes
Gemini Yes Yes No Yes
Perplexity No Yes Yes Yes
Microsoft Copilot No Yes Yes Yes
Google AI Mode No Yes No Yes
Claude No Yes No Yes
DeepSeek No Yes No No
Exa Search No Yes No No
Grok No No No Yes
Meta AI No No No Yes

Profound's Enterprise column reads "Capability for" the nine engines listed, and its plan card says "Up to 9 Answer Engines tracked". Scrunch's FAQ on supported platforms names the same nine it lists on Enterprise.

On cadence, Profound states daily tracking for both Trial and Enterprise. Scrunch's pricing page meters Core by responses, 5,000 a month, rather than stating a run frequency. Scrunch keeps up to 12 months of history, or since your environment was created if that is shorter.

If Copilot or Perplexity matter on a self-serve budget, only Scrunch includes them without a contract. If you need DeepSeek, only Profound names it.

What does each tool do with the data?

Both go past dashboards, in different directions. Profound puts AI agents to work on marketing tasks, including rewriting pages and staging them in your CMS. Scrunch focuses on how AI crawlers read your site: audits, page optimizations and Agent Pages, which serve AI agents an optimised version of each page.

Profound, from its pricing page and homepage:

  • AI Marketer and Agents. Reusable workflows for recurring marketing work, priced in credits. The homepage describes an agent that "rewrites pages with citation decay and stages them in your CMS".
  • Profound Sheets. Runs agents at scale, on both plans.
  • Agent Analytics. AI-sourced traffic and attribution across unlimited domains, with integrations for Akamai, AWS, Cloudflare, Fastly, Google Analytics, Google Cloud Platform, Netlify, Vercel and WordPress.
  • Prompt Volumes. What users are prompting answer engines; 5 searches on Trial, custom on Enterprise.
  • ChatGPT Shopping. Enterprise only.

Scrunch, from its pricing page and FAQs:

  • Monitoring and citations. Funnel stages, citations and sources, sentiment, personas and competitors (5 on Core).
  • Site audits. 5 a month on Core, complete audits on Enterprise.
  • Optimize. 1 page optimization a month and basic content generation on Core; advanced on Enterprise.
  • Agent Pages (AXP). Converts your site into an AI-optimised format and delivers it to AI agents in real time, while human visitors see the normal site. Enterprise only.
  • AI Search Trends. 3 topics on Core, custom on Enterprise.

The split is simple. Profound writes and stages content for your team to approve. Scrunch changes what the AI crawler receives.

Which tool fits which team?

Scrunch AI fits teams that want to buy at a published price today, need Perplexity and Copilot from day one, and care about how AI crawlers read their site. Profound fits enterprises that want unlimited seats, prompt-volume research, DeepSeek coverage and content agents, and can sign a custom contract after a trial.

Choose Scrunch AI if:

  • You need a price for a budget request today. Core is $250 a month.
  • You want to load your own 125 prompts in the trial, not a preset set.
  • Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot are on your must-track list without an enterprise deal.
  • Your site is JavaScript-heavy or hard for AI crawlers to read, and you want Agent Pages on Enterprise.
  • You track Grok or Meta AI.

Choose Profound if:

  • Many people need access. Seats are unlimited on both plans.
  • You want Prompt Volumes data to decide which topics to chase.
  • You want agents that rewrite pages and stage them in your CMS.
  • You need DeepSeek or Exa Search tracked.
  • Procurement wants SSO/SAML and SOC 2 under one Enterprise contract.

Where does Mentionova fit as a third option?

Mentionova publishes its prices like Scrunch, from $99 a month billed annually, and drafts content into your CMS like Profound. Scale tracks six engines, including Claude, Gemini and Reddit, for $400 a month or $320 billed annually. Scans refresh weekly, not daily, and it has no Agent Pages or prompt-volume data.

Mentionova (pricing, read 31 Oct 2026)
Starter $125/mo, or $99/mo billed annually: 25 prompts, 3 engines, 100 agentic tasks a month
Scale $400/mo, or $320/mo billed annually: 100 prompts, 6 engines, 500 agentic tasks
Enterprise $999/mo, or $799/mo billed annually: 250 prompts, 6 engines, 2,500 agentic tasks
Engines Starter: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google. Scale and Enterprise add Claude, Gemini and Reddit
Cadence Scans refresh weekly
Seats 3 team seats on each brand plan
Content Briefs and drafts pushed to WordPress, Webflow, Ghost, Sanity or a webhook, always as drafts for a person to publish
Reddit Lists the threads your engines cite and drafts a reply for you to post; Mentionova never posts for you
Trial Free trial on every paid plan, no card

Where Mentionova is weaker than both: no daily runs, fewer seats than Profound, no Copilot or Google AI Mode, no crawler-serving layer like Agent Pages and no prompt-volume data. Pick it if the job is turning citation gaps into published pages at a price you can see, and Reddit sits on your list of sources that matter.

Why does AI cite your competitors and not you, and which tool shows it?

AI engines name the brands that appear in the sources they retrieve. If competitors own the review sites, listicles and forum threads an engine reads, they get the mention. All three tools show which sources each engine cited; they differ in what they do next.

What each tool does once you see the gap:

  • Profound shows the cited sources, then hands the gap to its agents, which can rewrite your page and stage it in your CMS.
  • Scrunch shows the cited sources, audits how AI consumes your pages, and on Enterprise serves AI agents an optimised version through Agent Pages.
  • Mentionova shows the cited sources across six engines on Scale, ranks the gaps as opportunities with briefs, and drafts the content or the Reddit reply for a person to publish.

If your brand is missing from ChatGPT answers today, start with the cited sources, not your own homepage. Our guide on how to check if ChatGPT mentions your brand walks through a manual check you can run before any trial.

How do you test Profound and Scrunch AI before you commit?

Both offer 7-day trials, so run them in the same week. Scrunch lets you load your own 125 prompts; Profound assigns 50 preset prompts by industry. Compare category-level results, not prompt by prompt, and record mention rate, cited sources and the first action each tool hands you.

A one-week plan:

  1. Day 1. Start both trials. In Scrunch, add your top buying questions, starting with unbranded prompts such as "best [category] software".
  2. Days 2 to 6. Let the data build. Do not edit Scrunch prompts mid-test.
  3. Day 6. Compare ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews results only, the two engines both trials share.
  4. Day 7. Take the biggest gap to each tool's action layer: Profound's agents, Scrunch's page optimization. Note which gives you something to ship that week.
  5. Before the trials end. Ask Profound for an Enterprise quote in writing, and price Scrunch Core against Enterprise if you need Claude, Gemini or AI Mode.
