What a good Reddit reply is actually worth.

AI engines lean on Reddit because it reads as human. A genuinely useful reply becomes a cited source — here's the pipeline behind it.

How this is worked out

Every figure here comes from your own inputs and the four lines below. Nothing is a benchmark, and nothing is hidden.

Why Reddit runs the AI answer — and why that's fragile →

  1. 01Threads a month × the share you answer = replies.
  2. 02× the share that get cited = cited threads a month.
  3. 03× buyers reached per cited thread × 12 = buyers a year.
  4. 04× close rate × deal size = what the effort returns.

What it assumes

  • A reply only becomes a citation if it's genuinely useful. Seeded promotional replies get removed, and moderation history is something models read.
  • Nothing here posts for you. This is the value of a person answering honestly, with the brand mentioned where it belongs.
  • It credits the whole deal to the thread. Halve it for a conservative read.
  • Reddit's share of citations swings hard — it collapsed from roughly 60% to 10% of ChatGPT's citations in two weeks in 2025. Treat it as one channel, not the strategy.
