What a grid is
A grid is a spreadsheet whose columns are functions. Each row is a subject — a keyword, a URL, a competitor — and each column runs something against it: an AI prompt, a scrape, a search, a citation check, a publish. Fill a column and it runs down every row.
Column types
Data columns hold what you typed or imported: text, markdown, HTML, number, currency, date, datetime, URL, email, image URL, file, select, multi-select, checkbox, JSON and formula.
Execution columns do the work, and the picker names them plainly: AI prompt · Grounded research · Fetch URL · Scrape page · Google search · YouTube transcript · Workflow · Human review · Publish · Google Doc.
Mentionova columns bring the product's own data in: GSC metrics · AI citation check · Competitor overlap · Citation intel.
Columns can depend on one another, which is what makes a template a pipeline rather than a bag of cells.
What a run costs
Grids are metered in tasks: 1 for a formula, fetch, publish, Google Doc, human review or transcript; 3 for a scrape, a Google search or GSC metrics; 5 for an AI prompt or grounded research; 10 for a citation check, competitor overlap or citation intel. The run button shows the estimate before you commit, and columns set to run only manually are excluded from it.
Templates
Start from New from template. Around a dozen are published — article writers (informational, listicle, how-to, comparison, ultimate guide, alternatives, statistics roundup), outcome pipelines (refresh GSC underperformers, capture AI Overviews, brand mention defense, compete with a competitor article) and format builders (YouTube video to blog post, case study). Blank grid is a first-class start.
Running a grid
Run all takes all rows, rows with empty cells, rows with errors, or the first five as a test. Rows queue with up to ten running at once, and inside a row the columns run in dependency order. A cell can be re-run on its own.
Brand voice is injected into every AI prompt cell, which is why the tab nags you to finish onboarding first.
Review and publishing
A human review column pauses the row until a teammate approves or rejects it. The Publish column pushes to WordPress or Webflow, or downloads Markdown or HTML.
Automating a grid
Grids have no schedule of their own. To run one on a clock, build a workflow with a schedule trigger and a Stage rows in grid step that feeds it.
Grids also reach the wider integration catalogue through a workflow rather than directly: a grid's own columns cover publishing, Google Docs and Search Console metrics, and the Workflow column runs anything else.
