Adding prompts to track

Add the questions you want to monitor across AI engines.

What are prompts?

Prompts are the questions your customers ask AI engines. For example, "What's the best project management tool for small teams?" or "Compare Notion vs Coda for documentation." Mentionova sends each prompt to 6 AI engines and records whether your brand was mentioned, what was said, and which URLs were cited.

Adding prompts

From the Prompts tab in your workspace:

  • Add manually - click Add prompt and type the question.
  • Bulk import - upload a CSV file with one prompt per row.
  • Auto-suggest - click Suggest prompts and Mentionova will generate relevant prompts based on your brand, website, and competitors.

Scheduling

Each prompt can be set to run on a schedule: weekly, biweekly, or monthly. You can also bulk-update the schedule for multiple prompts at once. Running prompts manually is always available too.

Prompt limits

Your plan determines how many active prompts you can have. Starter includes 25, Scale includes 100, and Enterprise includes 400+. Archived prompts don't count against your limit.

Tips for good prompts

  • Write prompts the way a real customer would ask the question.
  • Include category-level queries ("best CRM software") and specific comparisons ("HubSpot vs Salesforce").
  • Add prompts for different stages of the buyer journey - awareness, consideration, and decision.
  • Don't include your own brand name in the prompt. You want to see whether the AI engine recommends you organically.
